Gun violence prevention doesn’t always look like you’d expect. Here in Pennsylvania, it’s not only about safely securing firearms or keeping guns out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them—it also looks like fully funding critical youth engagement programs that give kids safe places to grow and thrive. Programs like Cafe Momentum, which provides paid internships to young people exiting the justice system. Or the YMCA’s Youth and Government Program, which provides service-learning and civics education for more than 700 Pennsylvania kids and teens. But state lawmakers have just one week left to fully fund these programs, so we need to act fast. Send your lawmakers a message today telling them to fund these critical programs in this year’s budget. Send My Message Investing in young people’s safety isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s also the fiscally responsible thing to do. Programs like these have an estimated $7 return for every $1 invested, so there’s no reason our lawmakers shouldn’t fully fund them.Guns are still the number one killer of kids and teens in our country, and funding programs for at-risk youth is one way that we can prevent firearm-related tragedies. NOW take action today to make sure Pennsylvania’s youth have a chance to grow up and thrive. Thanks for taking action, Pennsylvania Advocacy Team Everytown for Gun Safety ![]() |
